After graduating from college and completing active duty with the U. S. Navy, Bourret began an insurance career with Cogswell Agency in 1972, specializing in business and personal insurance. In 1979, Bill earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and he has maintained the designation continuously. Bourret served as Vice President of Cogswell Agency and President of Northwest Administrators, a Cogswell Agency affiliated company until 2006 when he elected to begin looking toward retirement from full time practice. Bourret continues in the sales department at Cogswell Insurance Agency, LLC (formerly Cogswell Agency).
Bill joined the Benefis Health System Board of Directors in 1998, served as Board Chair for 2009 and 2010, has served as Chair on several Board Committees and has been liaison to several Advisory Boards within Benefis Health System. Mr. Bourret currently chairs the Finance & Resources Committee.
Bourret served in various organizations including Naval Reserve (Captain- 27 years), chair of the Chamber Military Affairs Committee, Life Member of the Optimist Club, Naval Academy Liaison for Montana, and past president of a Montana Independent Insurance Agents Association affiliated company.
Bill is a native of Great Falls and received a BA from the University of Montana in 1964.
